Vinyl gloves
Vinyl gloves are made of a PVC material. Vinyl gloves are considered to be the more economical glove, when comparing between vinyl, latex, and nitrile gloves.
- Good choice for shorter term and lower impact activities
- Contains no latex
- Ideal for use for protection against non-hazardous materials
- Resistant to oils, grease, and acids/bases, but not resistant to solvents and ketones.
- Color is typically going to be a white or semi transparent material
Latex gloves
Latex gloves are made from a natural rubber material, which helps offer good protection against bacteria and viruses.
- Good choice for extended period of usage
- High level of touch sensitivity, which helps with dexterity
- Offers good protection in high risk situations against infectious materials such as bacteria and viruses
- Very elastic and strong
- Not resistant against oils and greases
- Color is typically a white or beige colored material
Nitrile gloves
Nitrile gloves are made from a synthetic rubber and is typically used as an alternative to latex. Nitrile gloves are more expensive than vinyl and latex gloves, but nitrile gloves are more durable and offer more protection.
- Good choice for longer term use and higher impact activities
- Stronger than latex and vinyl gloves
- High level of touch sensitivity
- Contains no latex
- More puncture resistant
- Works well for high risk conditions involving oil, chemicals or infectious materials
- Color is typically blue or black
